Sedona Resorts
Sedona is brimming with resorts, hotels, lodges, B&B’s, and campgrounds in the Oak Creek Canyon. And yet, because Sedona is such a popular tourist destination, book early as the ‘season’ (April-November) tends to be full up every year. Of course, off season is still a great time to visit as the weather is never very severe. Sedona resorts range from moderately priced to very expensive.
Having lived in Sedona proper for over 10 years, I can personally attest to the growth and scaling up of all the accommodations offered. Because they all must compete within a limited space of real estate for the tourists’ business, there really aren’t any ‘bad’ hotels. But prices run the gamut so do your homework first.
Here are just a few of the places in Sedona that I heartily recommend:
The Arroyo Roble
Something for Everyone Within Easy Walking Distance
The historic Oak Creek runs through its meticulously manicured grounds, but the Arroyo Roble Hotel and Creekside Villas provide more than just spectacular views. Guests are thrilled at how they can hike, swim or fish the Oak Creek all within a few hundred feet of their rooms. Others less active might prefer to just sit themselves down on a rock with their favorite drink and allow their minds to drift and relax to the sound of the gentle rapids. Upon exiting the main entrance, instead of nature greeting you, you are whisked into the hub of Uptown Sedona’s best shopping and dining available. Having both these worlds immediately available without getting in your car makes this a great place to stay.

The Matterhorn
Astonishing Red Rock Views, Shopping, Dining, Pure Fun
The Matterhorn is conveniently situated smack in the center of Sedona’s famous uptown district and offers breathtaking views of both Oak Creek Canyon and the towering red rock pinnacles right from your private balcony or patio. Just steps away from shops, art galleries, the chapel and fine dining, you can pack a lot of sight-seeing into your day with no travel time. They offer pet-friendly lodging as well as a number of package deals that give you a memorable vacation under budget.

Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa
One of the newer hotels and spas that was built while I was living in Sedona, The Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa is itself a work of art. The first time I walked in was a jaw dropping experience and the food in the restaurant was so good it quickly became a favorite of ‘us locals’. Its Mediterranean decor is unlike anything else in Sedona and simply gorgeous.
Although not situated “up town”, it is in West Sedona (a whole mile up the road) with lots of the newer shops and restaurants nearby. The views include the ridge that includes Thunder Mountain and the Thunder Mountain trail-head is less than a mile up the street. It is within walking distance of the Amitabha Stupa which is built within an amazing spiritual vortex. The Spa will give you plenty of nurturing for body and soul and you will leave Sedona totally refreshed.

It does so in harmony with nature as that is what people come to experience in Sedona. From the breathtaking red rock formations, big sky and rich earth to the serenity and intimate peacefulness they offer… from the historic haciendas and hospitality of eras gone by, to the warm, often unspoken, calm of the present… this spirit of Sedona… this spirit of timelessness and natural wonders which surround and fill us with a feeling of oneness… This spirit is the essence of Sedona Arizona’s Luxury Hotel, the El Portal Inn.
